It was great to see the title of your post coz I am in the midst of reading the book! I am at the point where Veronika is in the mental asylum and is beginnning to make sence of what it means to be "mad". <BR/><BR/>You are right, lots of food for thought in this book. At one level it is a metaphor to help us see that each person is unique and simply because he/she does not conform to the dominant norm does not mean that we label the person as abnormal. For who is to say what is normal and what is mad! <BR/><BR/>So many of us keep our "mad" sides hidden and block our innermost selves from expression and exploration. I think the book also calls upon society to be tolerant of each other and give each person a chance to express their individuality.<BR/><BR/>Bookslide!!!!! Ha ha.
